When you’re homeless, personal pride and the ability to accomplish something slips away. You lose that when you’re on the street. I can feel mine coming back now. Having a place helps me do better.”

After losing his mother, spending time in foster care, and battling drugs, Sherman found his way to St. John Center, like many before him. For years he lived on the streets, but on March 12 he moved into stable housing, giving him a home base from which he can continue his recovery and work toward his goals. “At St. John Center they don’t treat people like they are homeless. They help you keep your head up. The staff does everything they can to help people.They never treat you like you are beneath them,” said Sherman.
